Focus Montreal, a half hour weekend news program providing an in-depth look at local stories in Montreal, was cancelled at the end of August, 2020. With the announcement on August 20 that Global News anchor Jamie Orchard was laid off, also came the news that the show she hosted, Focus Montreal, would be cancelled. Previously, on August 17, 2015, Global Montreal launched its News at Noon half-hour local newscast produced out of Montreal and hosted by Jamie Orchard.

CTV announced in a memo on February 8, 2024, that effective immediately CTV News @ Noon newscasts on all CTV stations except Toronto were cancelled along with the 6 p.m. and late night weekend newscasts on all CTV and CTV2 stations except Toronto, Montréal, and Ottawa. CTV newscasts on federal stat holidays on all stations except Toronto also ceased. Previously, one weekend anchor at CTV Vancouver Island was laid off and the weekend newscast was cancelled in February 2021. Bell Media has operated the station since 2001.

In May 2021, CBC/ Radio-Canada chose to not renew its affiliation contract with CKRT-DT Rivière-du-Loup, forcing the independent television station to close. CKRT-DT Rivière-du-Loup closed on August 31, 2021. The station launched in January 1962.

On July 18, 2024, Corus Entertainment laid off almost all of the employees at the Global Kingston station. The TV studio at 170 Queen Street was closed and local programming was reduced as newscasts on Global Kingston were replaced with a regional newscast produced out of Toronto and anchored out of Peterborough. The morning newscast was also cancelled.

The last local news broadcast anchored out of the Global Okanagan studio aired on August 16, 2024. Beginning on August 19, 2024, as part of Corus Entertainment’s restructuring plans, Global Okanagan decreased its local news programming and now only broadcasts a pre-recorded newscast anchored and produced at Global BC in Vancouver at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. every weekday. Around a dozen jobs were lost at Global Okanagan.

The stations served the community of Lloydminster, a city on the border between Alberta and Saskatchewan, incorporated by both provinces. CKSA was a CBC affiliate when it began broadcasting in 1960, before switching to Global in 2016 and CityTV in 2021.
