The loss of local businesses in Jasper due to the wildfires resulted in a reduction of ad revenue that made the newspaper unsustainable. The weekly community newspaper had been serving Jasper since 2005. It launched as an independent newspaper, was sold to Aberdeen Publishing in 2012, and has been published by Great West Media since 2023.

On May 1, 2025, the paper expanded its distribution by introducing newspaper drop boxes throughout the region. The newspaper had previously only been available from local stores or through home delivery for subscribers. On September 30, 2025, an independent owner purchased the newspaper from Glacier Media Group.
