Jasper Fitzhugh announced on August 11, 2025, that the newspaper would be closing at the end of August. The loss of local businesses in Jasper due to the wildfires resulted in a reduction of ad revenue that made the newspaper unsustainable. The weekly community newspaper had been serving Jasper since 2005. It launched as an independent newspaper, was sold to Aberdeen Publishing in 2012, and has been published by Great West Media since 2023.

Viva Media announced that it would be ceasing its operations at the end of July 2025 and filed for bankruptcy on August 18. The company published weekly community newspapers, including Première Édition, l’Étoile, and La Voix Régionale, which covered local news in the Haut-Saint-Laurent, Beauharnois-Salaberry, and Vaudreuil-Soulanges regions.

Powell River Peak is a community newspaper in Powell River that has served the qathet region in B.C. since it launched in November 1995. On May 1, 2025, the paper expanded its distribution by introducing newspaper drop boxes throughout the region. The newspaper had previously only been available from local stores or through home delivery for subscribers. On September 30, 2025, an independent owner purchased the newspaper from Glacier Media Group.
