South Grenville Journal’s publisher announced on December 14, 2020, that the newspaper was closing immediately due to the decline of advertising revenue caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The weekly community newspaper was published as the Prescott Journal between 1890 and January 2020. The first edition was published in 1816 as the Grenville Gazette. Ten editorial and sales employees were laid off. The closing also affected a number of freelancers.

The Wilmot Post

The Wilmot Post, a weekly community newspaper in Tavistock, published its first issue on October 8, 2020. The newspaper serves the New Hamburg, Baden, New Dundee, Haysville, Mannheim, St. Agatha, Petersburg, Philipsburg, and Punkeydoodle's Corner communities in Ontario. The Wilmot Post and Tavistock Gazette merged to form The Wilmot-Tavistock Gazette on October 21, 2021. It was announced as a temporary merger due to a staffing shortage that resulted from a medical emergency. However, the newspaper announced that the change would be permanent on November 4, 2021.

The final print edition of 24 Heures was published on March 23, 2023, when the newspaper shifted fully to a digital publication providing daily news coverage online only. The newspaper launched as a free daily on March 12, 2001. Quebecor previously announced that the free daily newspaper was transitioning to a digital daily with a weekly print edition beginning on February 11, 2021.

On August 11, 2023, Métro Média announced that it would be immediately suspending operations across all of the company’s newspapers and websites. Métro Média declared bankruptcy during the week of September 17, 2023, and any temporary layoffs were made permanent. The newspaper was founded in 2001.
