The owner of the Moose-Jaw Times-Herald daily newspaper announced the daily would cease publishing as of Dec. 7, 2017 after more than 125 years in business. The paper had ceased publishing a Monday edition as of July 2016.

Black Press announced on March 14, 2017 that the Kootenay News Advertiser and Cranbrook Townsman would merge operations. The Kootenay News Advertiser no longer operates its own website, but has become a part of the Cranbrook Daily Townsman website. However, weekly print editions continue to be published. The newspaper began publishing weekly in April 2016, decreasing service from twice per week print editions.

Alaska Highway News published its final edition on October 19, 2023. Glacier Media cited the changing media landscape and advertising shifting to online platforms as reasons why the newspaper was no longer sustainable. In March 2016, the paper reduced its publishing schedule, changing from a daily newspaper to a weekly newspaper. Alaska Highway News was founded in 1943.
